Go paperless with Alderney Electricity

17 August 2026 | News

Alderney Electricity is encouraging customers to switch to paperless billing as part of its continuing efforts to improve efficiency and reduce the environmental impact associated with producing and delivering paper bills and statements.

AEL currently sends more than 7,000 paper bills and statements each year. Each one requires paper, printing, packaging and postage before it reaches the customer.

Moving to electronic billing provides a simple opportunity to reduce the use of materials and resources while also making the billing process more efficient.

AEL has a responsibility to reduce its environmental impact wherever it reasonably can. By choosing paperless billing, customers can help reduce unnecessary paper use, printing materials, waste and the transport associated with producing and delivering paper bills.

Customers who switch will receive future bills and statements directly to their nominated email address instead of through the post.

Go paperless and you could win £50

To help encourage the change, all customers who register for paperless billing by 31 December 2026 will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 AEL voucher, which can be used as credit against their AEL account.

Managing Director Chris MacGregor said:

“Moving away from unnecessary paper is a small change, but when it is repeated across thousands of bills and statements it can make a worthwhile difference. It reduces waste and cost, improves efficiency and is a simple way in which AEL and our customers can work together to reduce our environmental impact.”

Switching takes around a minute. Customers simply need their name, AEL account reference and the email address they would like their future bills and statements sent to.
