Outage Update

Thursday 10 September

0645 - We were aware of a power outage.  This was investigated across the whole day.

A fault developed in the early morning that carried all the way back to the Power Station, which shut down as a protection measure.  Engines were re-started promptly, but distribution was not possible until the island network had be made safe through a 'black start' procedure.

0900 - Power Restored to the Western side of the island, this included town and airport - about 70% of the demand on the island.

1130 - Having determined the fault was on the High Voltage lines on the Eastern side of the electricity grid, investigations continued.  Priority was given to the Braye Harbour area and St Annes School

1300 - Power restored via East 1 for Braye area and the School.  Next priority was to restore power to the Kiln Dairy Farm.

1330 - Kiln Dairy Farm and Longis restored (with temporary LV fix)

1507 - Power restored island-wide.

Friday 11 September

Investigations continued to locate the exact location of the fault on the old (paper insulated, lead sheath covered) HV cable running from Battery Quarry to the Arsenal.  Re-jointing will take place w/c 14 Sept.
