There are many miles underground cables all over the Island of Alderney.
Damaging just one cable costs a lot of money, can isolate large numbers of people from vital services or worse still, leads to serious injury and fatality. There have been incidents where heavy machinery have dug up AEL’s underground cables causing unplanned power supply disruptions.
To ensure the safety of those carrying out the work and members of the public, please call AEL before digging or contracting anyone to dig up roads, footpaths, carry out excavation work, cut trees or carry out any kind of construction work near any AEL asset be it underground or overhead.
